CMIC Sihanoukville Project Management Team

On December 24th, China Machine-Building International Corporation (CMIC), as the project contractor, was awarded the completion certificate by the project owner Schneitec Power CO., LTD.

The Development of Grid Substation and Transmission Line Project in Sihanouk Ville of Cambodia (the Sihanoukville Project) is CMIC's first EPC project in Cambodia and the first SINOSURE-covered loan project in recent years. Under the project’s scope, the underground cables and GIS substations are also special engineering types that have never been built by the company before. The timely receipt of the completion certificate marks a significant milestone for CMIC's development.

The Sihanoukville Project was signed in August 2019 and took effect and started construction at the end of December same year with a construction schedule of 24 months. Since the start of the project, the pandemic in Cambodia has been continuously spreading, with new cases hitting record highs. Especially in 2021, the situation rapidly worsened, and the project site experienced months of curfews and lockdowns. Multiple subcontractors also found confirmed cases, posing unprecedented challenges to the project execution. Under such extreme construction conditions, the project team overcame difficulties caused by the epidemic, including traffic disruptions, personnel shortages, and equipment shortages. The team activated all resources, kept works going without interruptions from water and power outages, ensured quality and quantity, and ultimately obtained the completion certificate on schedule. CMIC has gained high praise and trust from the owner, who said that the Sihanoukville Project team is a highly capable, professional, and victorious team.

After completion, as an important part of Cambodia's national power grid, this project will greatly alleviate the tight power supply situation in the Special Economic Zone of Sihanoukville, enhance the stability of power transmission, expand the effective coverage area of electricity, which is of great significance for improving local people's livelihoods and promoting regional economic and social development. At the same time, through timely fulfillment of this locally government-prioritized people's livelihood project, it is of great significance for CMIC to further enhance its local influence and promote subsequent project development.
